There are many regular inspection tasks to be undertaken within the built environment. For example, simple visual checks, pollution risk reviews and thermal inspections. UAV platforms can provide access to areas that are too difficult or too risky to send your team into. These services can dramatically reduce your risk exposure in a “working at height” situation and by altering the economics of these inspections, can enable you to do them more frequently.
By definition, an inspection with a UAV platform has a record, the output from the camera or sensor payload. The fact that this exists and can be stored for future reference can also be a key enhancement to your inspection regime.
3D orthomosaic mapping also creates a detailed record of locations. Commonly used in the construction sector, orthomosaics create reference points and allow engineers to evaluate and monitor progress through highly accurate 3D models. Export orthmosaics into CAD and GIS systems. Produce point cloud and geoTIFFS.
Thermography can give new insight into old problems. Evidence water ingress vs standing water. Use thermal indexing to measure thermal efficiency and identify thermal bridging locations.
